Before the blog began I started my adventures with chooks and joined Backyard Poultry. We attempted to raise eight day old Australorp chicks and after three years still have three of those original birds, affectionately called The Pixel Chiks. They were joined by The Dixie Chiks, The Little Red Hens and The Luddenham Ladies. I have also had Pekin ducks, Silver Appleyards, Muscovies and Bantam Saxonys.
Along the way we have had some unusual visitors, some wet visitors, some super cute visitors and also some dangerous ones. I have had quite a few deaths in custody. Baby chicks, baby ducks, snakes, lizards, precious ducks, beautiful ducks, special ducks and my first ever ducks, the beautiful Splash and Puddle.
My brother died not long after I started this blog. He lived in Indonesia and was one of the reasons I started blogging. I wrote stuff about my kids for him and the rest of my family and was able to share photos and stories across the miles. I keep writing now because it is a good way to record the goings on here and to ensure I remember all my adventures.
I have met people via the blogosphere and Bacyard Poultry that I may never get to see in real life. Many of you have helped me in my chook keeping adventures and I want to thank you all for your friendship and support. Hopefully we will keep blogging along together and sharing our adventures into the future.

Indeed! Happy 2nd blog birthday to you Lucy - I've enjoyed 'meeting' you through the blog and sharing some of the feathery love we both enjoy! I was thinking of you the other day and remembering the loss of your brother. I don't think I have a plan with my blog either - it just rolls along with an odd momentum of its own in some ways. I'm glad you are doing it though and I'd still like to have the mountains get together we were thinking about - maybe a new year one? Hope you enjoy your Christmas and the little duckling is VERY cute.
