Nine months

Not the best markings

Waiting for their new accomodation

Checking out the new roost

After a few days the captives were set free
My family has survived nine months of unemployment. Six months ago I rehomed the majority of my birds and ALL my beautiful muscovies. It was a very sad day but in hindsight a wise decision. We had very little income for nine months and extra mouths to feed was too much for the bank balance.

For six months we have had three Sussex, The Dixie Chiks, and one cross-bred layer called Tashi. And Tide who now thinks he is a chook!

A couple of weeks ago one of The Dixie Chiks died for no apparent reason. Two is a lonely number in the bird world so we bought three more Dixies. They are not the best represntatives of their breed but lovely just the same.

I took a gamble buying them as Hubby was still unemployed. But not anymore! Today he starts a new job as the Adminstrator at St Andrew's Cathedral, Sydney. He will be working for the Dean of the Cathedral, Phillip Jensen and a team of wonderful people seeking to share the gospel and teach people the Bible in the City of Sydney. I have no idea what his job involves but I pray that as a result of his labours more people will be in heaven on the last day.

Congratulations on the new job and I pray it will be a blessing to all of you - whatever it may bring. Taking on the mysteries of life, with faith - that's living life with God.. All the best.

There were four Sussex and I bought three of them. But he has other pullets too. Down at Oakville. He sells them for a friend. His main interest is breeding parrots but his place is like a zoo. Peafowl, deer, pheasant. A real experience. I would buy from him again. Worht calling and seeing what he has left.

What great news, employment AND new chicks! Really happy for you and hubby too.
I don't know so much about Sussex (except they are gorgeous!) but yours look lovely I think. Second only to Wyandottes in my humble opinion LOL!
