Personal Locator Beacons
A lot of people go missing each year while bushwalking in the Blue Mountains. The Bushwalkers Wildreness Rescue Squad have an excellent site explaining bush safety and the necessity of PLBs. They can be obtained free of charge from Springwood and Katoomba Police Stations and from NPWS. If you go walking in the Blue Mountains take one with you.

What a great idea, I don't think these are promoted enough. I just heard that the British backpacker was found nr Katoomba today, wow, what a relief!
